‘Good sign of a return soon’ – Man City fans react to ‘promising’ injury update on Erling Haaland

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has undergone further treatment as he faces a race against time to be fit to face Liverpool this weekend.

The 22-year-old withdrew from the Norway squad for their recent Euro 2024 qualifiers against Spain and Georgia with a groin injury.

There have been no official updates on his condition since his father, the former City player Alf-Inge, was quoted by Norwegian TV saying his son had travelled to Barcelona for treatment.

That has fuelled speculation about his availability for Saturday’s crucial encounter against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Etihad Stadium.

Sky Sports News reported on Thursday morning that the former Borussia Dortmund and RB Salzburg man was missing from first-team training at the City Football Academy, while a new report has now outlined his routine away from the squad.

According to the Daily Star, Erling Haaland underwent more treatment as part of his rehabilitation from a groin problem, and did some lighter work on his own within the City Football Academy centre itself.

The news shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters

@GoldenBoyErling: “So there’s still hope…”

Pep Guardiola is expected to provide a further update on the fitness of his star striker when he faces the media in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
