Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Joao Cancelo is set to join Bayern Munich on loan.
The 28-year-old has proven himself to be of the best attacking full-backs in Europe in recent seasons but is getting a lot of coverage in media outlets of late as his future at Manchester City looks uncertain.
The former Juventus man has been left on the bench for a handful of games by Pep Guardiola and was seemingly called out by his manager for a bad attitude in training, so the rumour mill has been in force.
According to the Athletic, Joao Cancelo is set to join Bayern Munich on loan from Man City, with a deal likely to include a buy-option.
Cancelo is out of favour under Guardiola right now. He’s been an unused substitute in three of City’s last five Premier League games and in two of their last three domestic cup outings, but whether Pep wants to ship the Portuguese international is another story.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@tspenny29: “Terrible decision he loves the club and is brilliant just been slightly out of form.”
@renomahm: “What a joke.”
@ciarcarlin: “Incredibly unexpected move but I swear this fella just wants out every time his form stinks”
@iAttajiry: “This better be fake 😡.”
@JohnNMcRoberts: “There’s obviously issues going on behind the scenes. Pep wouldn’t let him go this late in the window just because he’s getting limited minutes. They have to think they’re better going forward without him in the squad..”
@BP9320: “idk if something is going on behind the scenes but this is awful business from us, he’s been the best full back in the world for years.”
@ComicaICity: “If this is his decision based on being on the bench a few times then it’s pathetic from him to not even try and fight.”
@CrustyFlacko: “So lost on why he just signed a 5 year extension when he doesn’t even wanna play for City. Questioning his character massively after this one..”
@Raza_MCFC: “Not a good move from City. We don’t play him and when we do he’s out of his best position, he gets frustated, asks to leave and our policy is not to block a move. We need creativity in that LB position. Ake is still more of a CB.”
