Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the wing position is an area the club will look to strengthen next summer.

It looks unlikely that Pep Guardiola’s side will be making any significant moves during the winter window after a busy summer bringing in Erling Haaland, Stefan Ortega, Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez, Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez.

However, the Premier League champions are likely to have another busy summer transfer window in 2023, with the wing position the obvious area for attention, according to journalist Graeme Bailey via 90mins Football.

As per the report, Manchester City’s future transfer plans involve trying to sign England and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, who has quickly become one of the brightest young talents in world football.

City have held an interest in Saka for a long time and are taking an active interest in his contract talks with Arsenal, which have been dragging on for well over 12 months.

Pep Guardiola’s side have also been linked with a move for Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, an indication that the wing position is really one of the priority areas next transfer window.

It would certainly be a sensational move from Man City if they can get a winger. With Riyad Mahrez ageing, Saka, Leao and Kvaratskhelia could be the ideal replacement, but convincing their club to part ways with them won’t be easy.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters. Many fans have made it clear they feel the club must prioritise the signing of a new winger next summer.

“Bro Mebude and Borges is all we need, we have Grealish, Foden and Mahrez. Mahrez is getting old and he’s off form but Mebude and Borges look very promising and with the correct development, which Pep and City can provide, they’ll easily break into the 1st team.
