Pep Guardiola has confirmed his plans for the January transfer window as he prepares his side to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The Premier League club on Monday reported record revenues and profits for 2021-22, of £613million and £43.2m respectively.
With two fixtures remaining before the World Cup break, attention will turn to the post-tournament landscape, with the January transfer window suddenly on the horizon.
However, despite City’s profits and an uncertain new year given the World Cup, Manchester City has no plans to add to the squad in January.
Quizzed about any potential incomings at the Etihad Stadium midway through the campaign, Guardiola confirmed City will not be making any fresh acquisitions in the January transfer window.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of City’s cup tie with Chelsea on Wednesday, the Catalan said: “Manchester City are not going to sign anyone in January. We have the squad.”
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
