Bernardo Silva has revealed the mood within the Manchester City camp following the defeat to Liverpool, and the feeling after another round of Premier League fixtures for the Sky Blues.
City had a week to brood over their controversial 1-0 defeat at Anfield, after their midweek Premier League fixture away to Arsenal was postponed. Pep Guardiola’s side came off second best in a vitriolic clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side, which dented City’s push for a third straight title.
But Silva said City showed why they are champions by stepping up against Brighton and proving their enduring class.
“We were very upset after what happened last weekend, so to get three points against a very tough team, we’re very happy,” said Silva. “I didn’t watch the [Liverpool] game back. Pep probably did and he explained what failed.
“Over the last four or five years we’ve had disappointing games in the Premier League and Champions League. After defeats, this team has always reacted well. Once again it’s bounce back together and go again for another game.
“No team in the world can sustain a season or two seasons without losing. Sometimes you’re going to lose, it’s how you react and this team reacts well.”
Silva wanted to leave City in the summer, but did not get the move he craved. Despite that, he insisted he will give total commitment this season.
“I have both eyes on winning the Premier League and trying to win the Champions League, Carabao and FA Cup,” said Silva.
“At the end of the season we’ll see what happens, but right now I’m going to give my best for the club and will give my best as long as I play here.”
