Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has delivered a crucial fitness update surrounding Erling Haaland, ahead of the weekend’s football schedule.
The striker has made a phenomenal start to his career in England after completing his move from Borussia Dortmund this summer. Haaland has already scored an incredible 22 goals in 16 games for Manchester City across all competitions.
However, the Norwegian forward was substituted at half-time against Dortmund on Tuesday, leading to doubts over whether he would be fit to face the Foxes this weekend.
After the match, Guardiola revealed that Haaland had been struggling with a fever and had taken a knock that resulted in him being taken off early against his former side.
Guardiola told BT Sport after the final whistle: “Erling had a bit of fever before the game, Joao (Cancelo) as well. I saw him tired, Joao as well. That’s why we change it. In that period we struggle a lot.”
Now, speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Pep Guardiola says he is still waiting on Erling Haaland’s fitness ahead of their trip to Leicester on Saturday.
The City boss told the media on Haaland: “We will see how he feels in his foot and after we will decide.”
“He feels better but we will train this afternoon and we will assess in a few hours. We will see how he is feeling and then we will decide.”
Asked about the fitness of the rest of the squad, the Catalan said: “Everyone had trained well. I have to wait until they come back [this afternoon] and see how they feel.”
This Guardiola’s updates on Haaland injury shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters – here is what they had to say.

“Wouldn’t bother playing him. Julian wasn’t great midweek but no one was, either go KDB F9, Foden F9 or Alvarez.”
