Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a summer move for Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo.
Cancelo signed for City in 2019 from Juventus and has quickly developed into one of the best full-backs in Europe.
Even though he is primarily a right-back, the Portuguese international has played on the left more often than not for Pep Guardiola’s side and has impressed heavily.
So much so that Real Madrid have now set their sights on the ex-Benfica for a transfer in the summer window of 2023.
According to a reports by AS (h/t SPORT), Real Madrid are lining up a move for the Manchester City and Portugal right-back in the summer of 2023.
However, the report states that signing the 28-year-old from Manchester City will not be easier as he is one of Pep Guardiola’s favorites, who will not make it easy for his versatile player to leave.
Cancelo, whose market value is around €60 million, penned a new deal with the Premier League champions in February earlier this year that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.
Joao Cancelo, who is a vital component of Guardiola’s plans has played in every league game and the UEFA Champions League matches. He has scored a goal and provided two assists.
Last season, the Portuguese made 45 appearances in the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League. He scored three goals and provided two assists. He will be looking to beat his own record and help City to another league title and a major European title.
