A number of Manchester City fans were in hysterics at Pep Guardiola’s comments, as the manager reiterated his stance on his future at the Etihad Stadium.
The 51 year-old is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 and having won four of the last Premier League titles there is nobody in the club hierarchy who is looking for him to move on.
Since his appointment in 2016, Guardiola has extended his stay with the reigning Premier League Champions on two occasions, firstly in 2018 and again in 2020.
While the manager has said he will not betray the club when he makes a decision, he has also suggested that he could run down his contract before announcing his next move.
Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tyneside, Guardiola has once again responded to questions surrounding his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking with Sky Sports, the Spaniard said: “After the World Cup we will talk. The best for the club, for me. For the club, the best, the first and after we will see.
“I love being a manger, otherwise I would not be here but in the same times I like to enjoy my job. Enjoyment means prepare a lot, be sad when you defeat and be happy with your victories.”
Guardiola has held a clear stance on his future in East Manchester, saying earlier this month: “I wouldn’t change my life here one second. It’s seven seasons already. We spoke with the club.
“Middle of the season, end of the season, we will talk again about how we feel and decide what’s best for the club. I said many times if they want it I’d like to stay longer but at the same time I have to be sure.”
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City report and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“For those panicking, I’m pretty sure by “take a break” he means just relaxing whilst the World Cup is going on. Hence why he said they’ll talk AFTER the World Cup is over”

“I’m sure he is extending. He Loves the energy the club brings, from the management down to the smallest of the staff. The club is well organized. Listen to what he said again, said “First, what is good for the club” this means if the club wants him to stay, then he will”
