Pep Guardiola says Jack Grealish has been left out of the Manchester City squad to face Newcastle as he picked up a small injury against Bournemouth.
Pep Guardiola’s men take on Newcastle in their next league game before jetting off to Spain to prepare for a charity friendly with Barcelona next week.
Pep Guardiola made two changes from the side that beat Bournemouth in Gameweek 2, as John Stones and Bernardo Silva replace Ruben Dias and Riyad Mahrez, both of whom drop to the bench.
They sit alongside new signing Sergio Gomez, but Jack Grealish misses out through injury.
The 26-year-old suffered a knock against Bournemouth and is out with injury, with Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden lining up alongside Erling Haaland in attack.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off, Pep Guardiola said: “He (Grealish) had an incredible blow in the last game against Bournemouth in the last minutes.
“We’re lucky it was just a little, little, little damage to his ligament, but not much. He feels better, but not ready for today.”
The England international came off the bench in City’s 4-0 triumph over Bournemouth last weekend as Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden were all amongst the goals.
