Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Phil Foden is set for a huge wage increase, which will make him one of the highest-paid young players on the planet.
The England international has not had a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium since December 2018, and those terms are due to expire in the summer of 2024.
The 21-year-old is understood to have verbally agreed to a new contract in the autumn, but he is yet to officially commit his future to the Premier League champions.
The City academy graduate earns £30,000-a-week on his current deal, but he is set to put pen to paper on a new contract which would result in a significant pay increase.
According to the Daily Mail, that is about to change, following reports of a new contract, with the paper claiming Foden has now agreed to a deal.
The claim is that Foden will sign a six year contract worth seven and a half times more than his current wages, taking him to £225,000-a-week.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
