Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have set their sights on an alternative option to Marc Cucurella if the Premier League champions are unable to do business with Brighton this summer.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko gone to Arsenal, Manchester City will be in the market for another left-back this summer.
Manchester City and Guardiola have reportedly identified Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella’s as their preferred replacement.
As it stands, though, it appears that City have little intention of meeting Brighton’s asking price, said to be in the region of £50m.
According to Spanish outlet Marca as relayed by Sport Witness, Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo has become an ‘option’ for Pep Guardiola in the market.
The outlet claims Benfica have set a price of €20m for his transfer, but also highlight that Manchester City aren’t alone in the race for him, as the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Newcastle United also have the player ‘on their agenda’.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
