‘Offer a deal already’, ‘£45-50M should be enough’ – Man City fans react as Brighton owner Tony Bloom makes revealing Marc Cucurella transfer admission

Brighton chairman Tony Bloom says they have received no bids for Marc Cucurella despite Manchester City’s rumoured interest in him.

City have made no secret of the fact they are still in the market for one more piece of incoming business with the long-running saga over Marc Cucurella ongoing.

And with Oleksandr Zinchenko expected to leave the Premier League champions, the Brighton and Spain left back remains at the top of their list. Talks between the parties have not moved forward much and there is still no agreement between the two clubs over a potential transfer.

Manchester City are reportedly ready to meet Brighton’s asking price and launch a £45m bid for Marc Cucurella. But Brighton owner Tony Bloom, who would not be drawn on the transfer rumours surrounding the defender, wants Cucurella to stay on the south coast for a while yet.

“Marc is a tremendous player, a tremendous person. He’s brilliant for the dressing room. The players love him, Graham and the coaches, love him, I love him, the fans love him. He was unbelievably good last season, his first season in the Premier League. We’re hoping for more to come and we haven’t had a bid for him,” he told BBC Radio Sussex.

“I’m not going to speculate on individual players we may or may not get bids for. The fact that there is speculation and there is interest in our players, I always view that as a positive. It hasn’t always been like that. There’s less than three or four clubs where some of the players are not for sale.

However, Tony Bloom has admitted the club will not necessarily stand in Cucurella’s way should Man City lodge an acceptable bid.

“We’ve got to be realistic if a certain bid comes in and the player wants to move, the player will move, but we are not anticipating, we’re not looking for our best players to move on. If it happens and we get a bid then we have to consider it, but until that point, we carry on.”

It remains to be seen if Cucurella will still be a Brighton player next season. But when he was asked about City’s reported interest, he did not seem too distracted by those rumours as he made it clear he is enjoying his time on the south coast.

After the report of Brighton saying they are yet to receive an offer from Man City for Marc Cucurella emerged, fans have taken to social media to have their say.
