Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have given James McAtee the green light to go out on loan this season.

The 19-year-old is highly regarded by the Etihad club and was recently rewarded with a new three-year contract for his efforts at the club.

He was a star performer for City’s U23s and looked a cut above the rest at youth level. He managed 18 goals and seven assists in 23 Premier League 2 games while also impressing in the UEFA Youth League, though he only made six senior appearances.

His limited first-team game time has led to speculation over a possible loan exit, with a number of clubs interested in signing the youngster.

Pep Guardiola’s side were unsure if they wanted to let the attacking midfielder go this window with the likelihood being he would play the early rounds of the League Cup and the FA Cup.

However according to Football Insider the Premier League Champions have given James McAtee the green light to go out on loan this season.

Multiple Premier League and Championship clubs as per the report have expressed a desire to acquire his services.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“I don’t think this is a good idea unless he goes to a premier league team that will guarantee him at least 20 starts in league games. It should be in the contract, else, he stays and plays cup comps and rotates in the PL and CL. We still need him for depth at the least…”
