Manchester City striker Erling Haaland appears to have accidentally let slip his shirt number before the official announcement.
Haaland is City’s headline summer signing, arriving in a deal worth £51million as the Premier League champions secured Sergio Aguero’s long-term successor.
The Norwegian striker was officially unveiled as a City player last month after months of speculation and a drawn-out transfer battle fought with Real Madrid. The 21-year-old, of course, posed for plenty of photos while wearing the City kit, but his squad number was not revealed.
While City have not officially confirmed Haaland’s squad number, it now seems clear that he will be City’s new No.9 in shirt number as well as position.
A video showing Haaland on holiday in Marbella has surfaced online. The striker is holding up a City shirt with his name and the No9 on the back, as he takes photos with a fan.

The No9 shirt was widely expected to be Haaland’s pick, but any confirmation was on pause until Gabriel Jesus – the previous occupier – had left the club.
Manchester City fans should see Haaland in action for the first time on July 21 when the club take on Club America in their first pre-season friendly.
As the leaked video of what Haaland squad number will be in 2022/23 was shared on Twitter, Man City fans were quick to react.
