Ferran Torres has upset Plenty of Manchester City fans as he explains in an interview with COPE his decision to swap the Premier League champions for Barcelona.

The 22-year-old, who is currently away on international duty with Spain, with La Roja involved in the UEFA Nations League, finished the season with six goals and six assists from 25 games for Barcelona.

Speaking about his 2021/22 season, the forward said: “My season was very complicated. First I had the injury, which was very serious. Then I signed for Barça, who were going through a very difficult situation.

“Luckily we managed to turn it around and qualify for the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup.”

Explaining his decision to swap Manchester City for Barça, he said: “I could have stayed at Manchester City winning many titles, but I wanted a new challenge. Signing for Barcelona is an honor in itself, but when Xavi calls you, it’s a no brainer.”

These Ferran Torres’ comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters.

“The bloke has taken a massive step backwards in his career. His performances have notably dropped, and a career that was once going places has now peaked. Also, considering Barca’s financial predicament, he could soon find himself put up for sale by the club. What a waste!.”

“Not being disrespectful but I thought he was pretty average anyhow, chipped in with a few goals but went missing for large parts of the game, his moving has made zero difference to City apart from getting a whopping fee.”

“He just wants to be in his comfort zone. New League, new Country, Hyper-competetive was too much for this kid. No wonder he gave up that easily 😂😂. ”

“He’s fully a banter player lol. Had Pep Guardiola as his manager, the best ever, and chose to go to Barca for a ‘new challenge’ (despite spending 18 months at City and going back to the very league he came from), to be managed by a guy who was in charge of Al Saad in 2021 .”

“He was in fine form at City. Barcelona wasn’t really the right choice for him. Who knows he would replaced Sterling and Mahrez this season if they should have left the club though”

“Can Barca explain to Ferran Torres that he wasn’t missed at CITY! He went for a good deal..”
