‘Amazing if true’, ‘going to be announced before Haaland’ – Many fans react as Man City ‘Very Close’ to signing Brighton’s Marc Cucurella

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club are now very close to the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion left-back, Marc Cucurella.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a superb first campaign in English football, making 36 appearances in all competitions for Albion and picking up the player of the season and players’ player of the season at the club’s awards dinner this week.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances, which has led to speculation linking him Man City in the upcoming transfer window. Pep Guardiola’s side are on the lookout for a new left-sided full-back, with Benjamin Mendy’s career at the club all but over.

Pep Guardiola has been using Joao Cancelo as his preferred option in the position, and the Portuguese international has excelled as well. However, he is naturally a right-back, while backup option Oleksandr Zinchenko’s future has been called into action due to his reduced minutes.

Nathan Ake is another player who is capable of slotting in at left-back. But the Dutchman would not provide the same level of tactical flexibility and attacking intent that someone like Cancelo does.

In the last few weeks, the Citizens are believed to be on the lookout for a new left-back this summer, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella has been identified as one of their primary transfer targets, with one report claiming that they were planning to table a £30m offer for the 23-year-old.

According to an emerging reports from El Desmarque on Wednesday, Manchester City are now ‘very close’ to completing a deal to sign Brighton’s Marc Cucurella.

The report boldly states that Manchester City could in fact ‘confirm’ the arrival of the Spanish international as early as ‘next week’, with the transfer fee for the former Barcelona and Getafe player being set at between £25 million or £30 million.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
