Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will not stand in Oleksandr Zinchenko‘s way should he desire an exit this summer.
Zinchenko has been with City for nearly six years now having joined shortly after Guardiola was appointed as manager in the summer of 2016. Following an initial season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, he has been used sparingly by his boss.
The left-back has played a crucial role in Manchester City’s fourth Premier League title in five seasons, coming off the bench on the final day to register and assist and act as a catalyst for one of the most dramatic comebacks in English football history.
Arsenal have been linked with three City players – Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus – ahead of the summer transfer window. The trio are all out of contract in 2023. This week, the latest City player to be linked with a move away is Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail on Thursday reported that Arsenal are ‘considering a move’ for Zinchenko. Sam Dean and Mike McGrath from the Telegraph has added to that report to claim a potential move for Zinchenko is at a very early stage, but is regarded as less likely than the completion of a deal for Gabriel Jesus – who is the Gunners top striking target.
Sam Dean and Mike McGrath went further to claim that Manchester City will not stand in Zinchenko’s way if he wants a new challenge ahead of next season but will demand a considerable fee given the length of time remaining on his contract at the club.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“The fee will prove to be a stumbling block for Arsenal, I think. They have bigger priorities in terms of positions to strengthen this summer and City don’t have to take a cut-price deal for someone who’s got two years left on their contract and remains a key part of the squad..”

“One thing about Pep, he won’t stand in your way 💔. Ask Sane 💔.”

“Dont know why everyone’s freaking out, its the same for everyone. If you want to leave you can. It’s up to Zinny now, they’re not gonna force him to stay if he doesnt want to.”
