Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Southampton are keen to secure a summer move for talented duo Cole Palmer and James McAtee.
The Saints, who are set to be one of the busier Premier League outfits this summer, are considering the teenage attacking midfielders after an excellent campaign within City’s U23s.
McAtee chipped in with 18 goals and seven assists in 23 Premier League 2 outings during the 2021/22 campaign, proving to be an extremely influential part of Brian Barry-Murphy’s side.
While Palmer chipped in with 8 goals and four assists in 8 Premier League 2 outings during the 2021/22 campaign. He also made 11 appearances for the Citizens, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Both Southampton and Hasenhuttl have a history of developing young talent, and they could be in line to do just that once again.
According to The Athletic, Premier League side Southampton are eyeing a summer double swoop for talented Manchester City duo Cole Palmer and James McAtee.
It’s a testament to both players’ potential that Pep Guardiola saw it fit to hand them their senior debuts recently. Capable of playing in several attacking positions, the youngsters will act as a bridge between the Saints’ midfield and attack.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“No way Palmer is going anywhere. Maybe McAtee. Our squad is already small, so I can’t see us letting either go..”
