John Stones and Kyle Walker will be available for Manchester City’s crucial Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
Both of Guardiola’s key defenders trained on Thursday ahead of the game which will secure City if the title if they match or better Liverpool’s result at home to Wolves.
The defensive duo and England internationals had been expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering injuries in recent weeks.
But they will return for the season finale against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side, who will undoubtedly want to stop City to help his former club Liverpool.
On the availability of Walker and Stones, Guardiola said: “We have incredible doctors and physios and they have made incredible recoveries. It is good to have them back.”
Asked whether his side are facing any additional injury concerns ahead of their final matchday of the campaign, Guardiola added: “No, I don’t think so.”
Man City will however remain without centre-back Ruben Dias, with the Portuguese defender sidelined with a hamstring issue that has plagued much of the 25-year-old’s campaign at the Etihad Stadium.
