Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are thinking about accelerating and making an important offer for River Plate midfielder, Enzo Fernandez.
The 21-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a bright start to the current season, following up on his performances from the last term. He has banged in eight goals and secured five assists in 18 matches for the Argentine giants this season in all competitions.
Those displays have attracted attention from some of the major clubs in Europe. The young midfielder has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham United.
In a recent report, TNT Sports stated that Manchester City are monitoring the progress of River Plate youngster, who has mostly played as a box-to-box midfielder but can even fill in as a defensive midfielder if needed.
According to Journalist Maxi Benozzi via Clarín as relayed by All About Argentina, Man City are thinking about accelerating and making an important offer for the River Plate midfielder.
Fernandez’s current contract at River Plate doesn’t expire until 2025, but the player has a release clause of just €20 million. As per Maxi Benozzi, it is not ruled out that Man City could reach the player’s release clause.
Given the promise he has shown in his young career, Enzo Fernandez is likely to secure a move to Europe soon, if not in the upcoming summer transfer window. It remains to be seen if Man City or the other interested clubs make a move for him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Just done my research and he gets my approval. Playstyles a mixture of Fernandinho and Gundogan who are both ironically leaving. Bring him in to the Etihad.”

“This will be a HUGE transfer, he’s been absolutely amazing for River this year, arguably as good as Álvarez. Big bargain again.”

“He seems a real talent from what I’ve read from RP fans. Think replacements for Ferna and Gundo are of high priority now Haaland is done.”

“Yeah let’s replace Gundogan with an unproven player. These sort of signings are ignorant and complacent.”

“Replacing Gundo with this man, we’re going backwards.”

“We need a ready made midfielder to replace Gundo. Let’s go get Pedri once and for all..”

“Citys revenue is off the charts, losing a senior leader and world class player – replaces him with a cheap unproven lad… we will never get to the absolute top.”

“If we’re gonna replace Gundogan with Nunes or this guy we might as well just keep him what’s the point of downgrading.”

“If this is the Gundo replacement we’re finished.”

“Can’t believe he is going to be the Gundogun replacement we are finished.”
