‘Oh no!’, ‘Not again’, ‘Anyone but him please’ – Many Man City fans react as Barcelona very attentive to the situation of ‘indispensable’ midfield star

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona are following Bernardo Silva situation at the Etihad Stadium.

Bernardo Silva has said he will sit down with Manchester City at the end of the season to discuss his future, with the club keen to tie the Portugal midfielder to a new deal.

He was close to leaving Manchester City last sumer, with the board demanding an amount close to €70 million. Eventually, Pep Guardiola convinced the midfielder to stay, and he’s been arguably the best midfielder in the continent this season.

And while there have been no rumours indicating that Bernardo is pushing for an exit again, it is claimed that Barcelona could use Frenkie de Jong as a bargaining chip in this move.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the incorporation of Frenkie de Jong in a deal could be studied, with the 24 year-old only leaving Camp Nou if a top-level replacement joins.

The report states that Barcelona tested the option of signing the Man City midfielder last year, and the player ‘saw it with good eyes’ as he would be delighted to play in La Liga.

Barca boss, Xavi, wants another interior midfielder to accompany Pedri because the coach understands how important it is to his system and Bernardo Silva is said to be one of the preferred options.

The report claims that the Portuguese wants to leave the Premier League even though his contract runs until 2025.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Bernardo needs to stay. A swap with Frenkie is definitely not worth it, as Frenkie is nowhere near Bernardo’s level. But IF he really wants to go then well.”
