Michael Oliver have been appointed as referee for Manchester City’s final games of the season as the Premier League title is decided.
Man City will be bidding to secure the 2021-22 Premier League title when they welcome Aston Villa to Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s side, who drew 2-2 at West Ham United last weekend, hold a one-point advantage over second-placed Liverpool heading into the final weekend, with the Reds finishing their campaign at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A win would be enough for the Citizens to retain the title, but a draw or a defeat would open the door for Liverpool to snatch first position at the final moment.
Ahead of the game, the Premier League has appointed Michael Oliver, who has shown 150 yellow cards and 11 red cards so far this season, as the man in the middle for Sunday’s clash.
The 37 year-old official has already refereed City five times this season, most recently the Blues’ FA Cup loss to Liverpool at Wembley last month. He was last in charge at the Etihad in March, when Guardiola’s side thrashed Manchester United 4-1.
This week, Oliver was named as the Premier League’s representatives at the 2022 World Cup this winter.
