‘His loss in the end’, ‘would’ve been incredible for us’ – Many fans react as Paul Pogba agreed Man City move but U-turned due to Man Utd concern

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Paul Pogba agreed personal terms with the club but turned down a move as he was concerned about the backlash from United fans.

Pogba is set to leave Manchester United this summer due to his contract expiring, and Pep Guardiola was willing to offer him a a chance to stay in the Premier League.

It’s was reported earlier this month that City had emerged as a possible new home for Pogba as they begin their summer business. Fernandinho will leave the Etihad this summer leaving Pep Guardiola to eye a new face in the middle of the park.

According to The Times, Pogba rejected the deal as he didn’t want to deal with any backlash coming from the fans at Old Trafford. He felt his life in the North West would become unbearable because of the inevitable negative reaction to a move.

The report also states that Manchester City were willing to pay Pogba the wages he was demanding and would guarantee him first-team opportunities, but the player told Pep Guardiola’s side two weeks ago he would be moving abroad instead.

Carlos Tevez was the last notable mover within Manchester and his switch from red to blue caused huge anger over a decade ago. Any switch from Pogba would no doubt bring about the same reaction and that played a key role in the 29-year-old’s decision to opt out of any move.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
