Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Julian Alvarez will head to the Etihad Stadium to join up with the first-team squad in the summer.
The 22-year-old forward signed for the Citizens in January before returning to River Plate on loan, where he is currently set to stay until December 31.
Pep Guardiola’s side are believed to have a €1.5m option if they wish to fast-track the forward into their first-team squad this summer.
Despite Pep Guardiola stating earlier this year that Alvarez ‘will be with us’ in the summer for pre-season, there has been speculation to suggest that City may look to keep the forward in his homeland until 2023, as they eye a move for a big-money centre-forward such as Erling Braut Haaland.
According to Hernan Castillo, ‘everything indicates that’ Julian Alvarez will join Manchester City in the summer and will begin the 2022/23 season with the current Premier League leaders in August, as translated and relayed by All About Argentina.
The Argentine attacker has been tipped by many to be the next superstar talent from Argentina to make waves in Europe.
The striker has started the season well for River, scoring five times in ten outings, with two assists, as well as a first goal for Argentina on his full international debut.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Yeah happy with that, loans never seem any use for development with us just a shop window. Top Championship club at a push or lower Premiership clubs should be using. He’s already recognised and could take a year to adapt properly to the squad”

“I don’t care if it’s just me but I’m getting vibes that we might not be getting any other striker except this guy…”
