A lot of Manchester City fans have flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts at transfer claim regarding Benfica’s Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguay International has been linked with a move away from the Primeira Liga outfit in recent months, with Pep Guardiola’s side linked to the player for a long time.

According to newspaper Record as relayed by Sport Witness, Darwin Nunez ‘dreams’ of moving to a top European club such as Man City, which is one reason why he changed agents.

Benfica, who have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals, have set a price of €80M to let their prized asset go; he has scored 26 goals in 33 games this season in all competitions.

It’s said City have been following Darwin for a long time, and Benfica shall not wait for the World Cup to see his price raise, meaning that if a good offers arrives in the summer, they’ll be ready to cash in with his sale.

This comes at a time when Manchester City are deemed to be close to signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, with several reports in the last few days claiming a deal is close to being done.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“People turning their noses up at Darwin Nunez clearly don’t watch European football. I have never ever been convinced Haaland is coming to City, hopefully he does, but if not we could do alot worse than Nunez.”

“If haaland actually does want 500k a week, no longer than a 3 year deal & a release clause, I’d 100% take Nunez & Alvarez over him.”

“Is Nunez better? Nope but he wouldn’t leave city by choice at all unless it’s age 33 back to benfica. I prefer Nunez for the fact that haaland wants a 3 year contract and a release clause, he wants a short term team and we don’t want that.”
