Pep Guardiola to Convince Erling Haaland to Sign For Manchester City

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola is ‘exercising his power of persuasion’ to convince Erling Haaland to come to the Etihad.

Haaland is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park during the summer transfer window, when a £62.8million release clause written into his contract will become active.

The Citizens are believed to be leading the race for the 21-year-old’s signature, while La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on his situation.

Various reports claim the reigning Premier League champions are the firm favourites to sign the imperious Norwegian who has contributed a sensational 23 goals and six assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.

According to Rubén Uría from GoalEspaña, Pep Guardiola is currently ‘exercising his power of persuasion’ in an attempt to sign Haaland – and it is not the first time he has been personally involved in a signing.

The report adds that Txiki Begiristain and Man City are trying to convince the player of a great sports project.

It is claimed that the Borussia Dortmund striker is seeking a salary of between €20M-€25M net per season – an acceptable figure for both Man City and Real Madrid.

In light to the update, many Man City fans have reacted – here are some of the best responses.

“If he can’t see City’s project as the best one then maybe this boy shouldn’t be sought after. He clearly wants Madrid, to us he will only come for money and to wait for a chance at Madrid.”

“If this is true the most important thing that is happening is pep ain’t going anywhere.”

“If pep wants him so bad then why would he only stay for 1 year after Haalands arrival?.”

“Another way of looking at this, is Pep is certainly extending. if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be directly involved in talks, especially talks about the “project” of the club.”
