Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club want to open talks with Ilkay Gundogan over a new contract.
The 31-year-old, who has made 242 appearances for the Citizens across a five-and-a-half-year period, has scored 46 goals for City since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
Gundogan is out of contract at the end of next season, which will take his time at City to seven years.
According to Daily Star Sport, Manchester City are expected to offer Gundogan an additional 12 months, taking him through to summer 2024.
City have tied down a number of key players to extensions in the last 12 months, including Joao Cancelo, Ederson, Ruben Dias, John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne.
After Fernandinho, who is out of contract at the end of the season Gundogan’s deal is the next to expire among the senior players.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

Idk what to think about gundo. I’d like, and think it should be the case, that McAtee is fast tracked to replace him along with Foden and Grealish moving into midfield but he’s too good to let go https://t.co/AURrSkA7hQ
