‘If this is true, let him go’, ‘Trust Julian Alvarez’ – Erling Haaland’s transfer update has Many Man City fans talking

Plenty of Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report to yet another update on the club’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland.

The 21-year-old has been at the centre of a chaotic transfer saga which has seen him linked with a number of European giants ahead of a proposed summer move.

Competition is fierce for Haaland’s signature, as the prolific Norwegian will be available for around £63 million when his release clause becomes active at the end of the season.

Only a few days ago, it had been claimed that Manchester City already have a deal in place to sign the Norwegian international. And, while talks may not be that further along, it does seem like they are currently the best-placed team to sign him up.

SPORT1’s Patrick Berger revealed that Barcelona are now out of the race for the player’s signature, and that it is now ‘very, very likely’ that Erling Haaland joins either Manchester City or Real Madrid.

According to the Sun, Haaland is expected to ask for a release clause to be written into his contract if he moves clubs this summer.

The report states that spanish clubs tend to insert release clauses into the contracts of their star signings which is a practice less common in England.

In light to the update, many Man City fans have reacted – here are some of the best responses.

“What’s the point in signing him if he’s already thinking of leaving..”

“Was always going to be the case. Just have to ask yourself whether it’s worth 3-4 years of Haaland or fully invest in someone who’ll want to stay for a long time..”

“This is the only thing that concerns me about Haaland. I don’t want another Sane/Torres situation. He wants Barca/Madrid and money problems at both make that a logistical issue. I don’t want him using City as a stepping stone until they get their act together.”

“If this is true let him go. Rather go for Joao Felix or Harry Kane.”

“He’ll do the same thing Torres has done. Come here for a year, max two, then leave to Madrid. And we’ll just spend another 4 years looking for a striker to replace him.”

“Time to move on.”

“I don’t care if he is only at the club for like 3 years. It doesn’t bother me after watching yesterday.”

“Trust julian. How can we have someone on our team who’s already thinking of leaving? He just wants to use city as a stepping stone. He’s gonna stay 3-4 years max anyway..”
