Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report of the club’s interest in Athletico Paranaense sensational fullback Abner Vinícius.
The 21-year-old left-back, who is making waves with his performances for the Brazilian club of late, has been watched on a number of occasions by City scouts while playing for Paranaense.
With Benjamin Mendy currently suspended by the club, Pep Guardiola is believed to be on the lookout for reinforcements at left-back.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is City’s only recognisable left-back at present, though Guardiola has been able to call upon Joao Cancelo to operate in that role.
Despite the success of Cancelo this season at left-sided full-back, it appears as though City’s long-term recruitment plans will feature the signing of a new player in that position.
The Telegraph early this month reported that Manchester City were looking at Brazil full-back Abner Vinícius, as they step up their search for a long-term left-back.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb as relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are on the ‘trail’ of Paranaense left-back and ‘want to buy him’ this summer.
However, as per the report, the Brazilian club plan to renew his current contract – which expires in 2024 – and increase his €25M release clause.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

We’re at a point where, just like in FM, you’re so comfortable that you decide to just go to South America and buy all the best wonderkids to add to your already insanely stacked team
