Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a reports that claims Joao Cancelo is set for a significant pay-rise next summer.
The 27-year-old Portugal International arrived at City from Juventus in 2019 and after a slow start to life in England, he’s become one of the world’s best defenders.
So far during the 2021/22 season, Cancelo is rivalling Manchester City’s attacking talents for the most goal contributions across all competitions.
His performance against Newcastle in Manchester City’s 4-0 victory on Sunday was yet another reminder as to why the former Benfica star is one of the best full-backs in Europe at present.
Cancelo has been in incredible form of late and despite the fact his current contract runs until June 2025, City look keen to reward him for his fine form and seek a further commitment from him.
With Cancelo still just 27 and arguably the best full-back in world football right now, he could be in line for a hefty pay increase, in the hope that he continues to excel in sky blue.
Italia Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this month that the Manchester City board aim to open talks with the 27-year old over a brand new contract in 2022.
According to Daily Star this week, Joao Cancelo is in line for a whopping pay rise next summer, that would see him earn £250,000-a-week – rising from his current £150,000-a-week wages.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Well worth it. What a machine he is! https://t.co/Zi8eTniAv8

Don’t care, just happy if he wants to extend. Should break the club-hopping patern and stay the rest of his career.
