Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona are close to agreeing a €50m (£42.5m) fee for Spanish forward Ferran Torres.
Torres has emerged as Barcelona’s top target, with Xavi Hernandez pushing the club to land the Manchester City winger in the winter transfer window.
The former Valencia winger is keen on the move and is more than willing to return to Spain with Barcelona next month.
City are ready to let him leave on a permanent basis, but Signing Ferran Torres from the Premier League champions could be a step too far for Barcelona financially as their economic woes are well known.
Spanish publication earlier this month reported that City have priced Torres at €60m(£51m) – over double the £21m they paid Valencia for him last year – and are willing to let him go if Barca stump up the cash.
Journalist Gerard Romero on Thursday reported that the difference between Man City and Barcelona in their valuations of Ferran Torres is now just €4M-€5M.
According to Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez Haya as relayed by Sport Witness, a deal for Torres to move from the Etihad Stadium to Camp Nou is “90% done” and his transfer is edging closer to being finalised ahead of the January window.
The report adds that talks are still ongoing between both parties over the total fee, though it is understood that the Catalan giants are prepared to pay €50m (£42.5m) upfront with a further €5m (£4.25m) in add-ons.
The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

What a pathetic fee, I hope this isn’t true, we can’t be making less than £50m it just doesn’t make sense https://t.co/4DgHLvWumM

This club can’t sell ffs. That’s a pathetic fee for a player like Ferran when Felix/Dembele went for over 100M https://t.co/03FtwlZKRr

A €50m +€5m deal for Torres, in January, when City really *really* don’t need to sell – literally makes 0 sense. Can’t be true. Surely? https://t.co/xigRAKZ6KO
