Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Ferran Torres is set to have his medical with Barcelona on Thursday ahead of a proposed €55m (£47.6m) transfer in January.
Barça have been hot on the trails of the 21-year-old for quite some time now, as they sought reinforcements in the final third. Manager Xavi Hernandez had made the Spaniard his top priority owing to his versatile nature and technical qualities.
Talks over a transfer have been going on for a while, with the club director Mateu Alemany and CEO Ferran Reverter had travelled to Manchester, to try and close the deal. However the Premier League champions’ unwillingness to lower their demands was proving to be an issue.
But, now a breakthrough has been achieved between the two clubs with an agreement over a deal being finalised.
The Citizens are believed to have reached an agreement with the Catalan giants to sell the 21-year-old for an initial €55m (£47.6m) with a further €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barca and Torres’s agent are arranging the player’s arrival in Catalonia within the next 24 hours, before he undergoes the first part of his medical and signs his contract.
The report adds that both Barcelona and Man City are working on an official statement to be released by both clubs to announce the transfer.
The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

He says this about David Silva, the man who’s number he is wearing on the back of his shirt, and come 18 months later he is jumping at the chance too go back to Spain. It cuts deep and I won’t have anybody telling me wrong. He spat in the face of David Silva. pic.twitter.com/m18JtrcwLO

The next player that walks through the door will have to earn that number. They don’t just get to take it
