Manchester City were drawn away to Swindon Town in the FA Cup third round proper on Monday.
The draw was made on Monday night and Pep Guardiola’s side were handed a favourable draw on the road to the League Two side.
The tie against the League Two side will be played at the County Stadium over the weekend of the 7/10 January.
The pair last met in the FA Cup in 2002, again in the third round, with City winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Paulo Wanchope and Kevin Horlock.
City last won the competition in 2019, beating Watford 6-0 in the final. Since then, they were defeated in the semi-finals in 2020 by eventual winners Arsenal and crashed out at the same stage in 2021 by Chelsea who went on to lose the final to Leicester City.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

I really wanted us to face Chelsea, we need to fix where our mistakes from last season, and of them was allowing Chelsea to beat us yet we were the stronger team
