Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Talks are ‘progressing’ with James McAtee over a new contract.

The 19-year-old, who is being compared to a young version of club legend David Silva, is one of the brightest talents to emerge as a future star from Manchester City’s youth set-up.

The highly-rated midfielder has starred for City’s youth team this season, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists in 19 appearances across all competitions.

The teenager has 18 months remaining on his current contract at the Etihad Stadium and it has previously been reported that negotiations between both parties to extend the midfielder’s deal have stalled.

With the teenager having only made two senior appearances this season, several lower league clubs have made their interest in McAtee known. But the Citizens are reluctant to sanction a move away for the midfielder.

According to Jack Gaughan via Mail Sport, Talks are said to be ‘progressing’ with James McAtee over a new Manchester City contract.

James McAtee will likely be given another opportunity in Leipzig on Tuesday night, as Guardiola seizes the chance to rest his star men and offers big opportunities to the academy kids.

In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
