Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Roberto Mancini has emerged as a wild card candidate to take over at Manchester United next summer.
The Red Devils are currently searching for an interim head coach to lead the team for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign, having sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk last week reported that the Red Devils made contact with the Etihad Stadium hero over potentially taking over United as manager.
But, the 56-year-old rejected the approach as the Italian coach is set on remaining with the Azzurri ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup next year in Qatar.
With Italy the champions of Euro 2020, the European powerhouses will be eager to win a fifth World Cup. And under Mancini, the confidence will be there to win it in the Middle East.
However according to the latest report from the Telegraph, the Former Man City manager has emerged as a wild card candidate to take over at Manchester United next summer.
The report states that his history with City is a potential complicating factor but has not seen him be discounted at this stage. The possibility of a return to the Premier League is thought to hold an appeal to him.
The Italian coach is a beloved figure at City, and during his time at the Etihad, Mancini won City’s first Premier League title, as well as an FA Cup and a Community Shield in a four-year spell between 2009 and 2015.
Mancini won Euro 2020 last summer, beating England on penalties in the final at Wembley, and has managed the likes of Inter Milan, Galatasaray, and Zenit, as well as City.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
Manchester United’s determination to get a manager who quite clearly despises them, is just wonderful.

more chance of me being the next City manager after Pep leaves, Mancini hated United & Ferguson & knows the love City fans have for him. https://t.co/ymkTNuehRf
