Manchester City rising winger Samuel Edozie has suffered an injury setback that will keep him out until the new year.
The 18 year-old exciting academy winger was one of the stars of pre-season, building on a good campaign last season with City’s academy sides.
The London-born winger, who scored three goals in pre-season, made his first competitive appearance for Pep Guardiola’s senior set-up at the very start of the ongoing campaign, during the Community Shield defeat to Leicester City at Wembley.
He has four goals and one assist in ten academy appearances so far this season, including a goal against League One side Doncaster in the EFL Trophy and one in the UEFA Youth League win over Leipzig.
The winger has been a regular in first team training since, earning call-ups to the bench in the recent games at Brighton and West Ham in Ferran Torres’ absence
However, Edozie now joins Torres on the sidelines as he announced on his personal Instagram page that he has sustained a serious injury.
Writing on Instagram on Monday night, Edozie stated, “Unfortunately, I have suffered an injury which will most likely keep me out until 2022.”
“However, I will be back soon, stronger than ever,” he stated.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
