Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly set to stay with the Portuguese giants in January, amid interest from Manchester City.

The 22-year-old has been in prolific form for Jorge Jesus’s side in the early stages of the season and found the back of the net twice against Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.

The Uruguay International has been linked with a move away from the Primeira Liga outfit in recent months, with Pep Guardiola’s side believed to be leading the race for his signature.

However, Portuguese news outlet Record claims that Benfica ‘will not accept’ any offers for Nunez in January and plan to keep the Uruguay international for the rest of this season.

Nunez, who is understood to have a £127.5m (€150m) release clause in his contract, is also attracting interest from ChelseaManchester UnitedAtletico Madrid and AC Milan.

The Uruguayan hitman, who still has a contract with Benfica until June 2025, hit 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last season, showing his quality as an all-round striker.

This term, Nunez has already bagged six goals in seven games, including a brace against Barcelona in midweek. so interest in his signature is no shock.
