Luka Modric is not averse to the idea of joining Manchester City in the scenario wherein he decides to call it quits at Real Madrid next summer.

The 36 year-old Croatian international has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Bernabeu and is considering his options in the latter stages of his career.

The Premier League champions were reportedly eyeing a move for Real Madrid midfielder when his contract expires next summer.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Manchester City have been handed a major boost in their bid to sign Luka Modric in next summer’s transfer window.

The report claims the Croatian midfielder is ready to join the Premier League champions if he leaves Real Madrid.

City already have a plethora of midfield options at their disposal, though Guardiola may consider the signing of Modric next summer as a potential replacement for Fernandinho, who will see his contract expire in the summer of 2022.

Modric, who Pep Guardiola is a big admirer, is a fantastic midfielder and is still playing regularly for Real, but it won’t be easy luring him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Croatia international’s reliance on passing and creation has seen him earn comparisons with the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Andres Iniesta.
