Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has had his say on the Premier League title race after both Liverpool and Manchester City failed to pick up three points on Saturday.
Chelsea sealed a 3-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park, meanwhile, Liverpool squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Brighton.
But the biggest upset of the day came at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola‘s side were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace, while Aymeric Laporte was sent off for the Premier League champions.
Chelsea’s win means they are now three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, but Tuchel is adamant that he will not be getting carried away.
Asked if seeing Liverpool and City drop points makes Chelsea’s win sweeter, he said: “First of all it’s far too early and second of all we want to focus on ourselves.
“If you think we’re inside, celebrating other results — it’s not like this.
“Congratulating the team for their performance and the effort that we put in — this is what counts.
“It’s a long way to go. It’s not the moment.
“I don’t feel comfortable celebrating other results. What goes around, comes around.
“So put the feet on the ground and enjoy the moment, we did a good match and had a great result.”
