‘Head up lad’, ‘this just wasn’t our day’ – Man City fans react as Aymeric Laporte breaks silence on red card vs Crystal Palace

Aymeric Laporte, who had a nightmare performance, earning his first red card for Manchester City, has apologised for his red card against Crystal Palace.

The reigning premier leaque champions suffered their first home defeat of the season after Wilfried Zaha punished slack defending from Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte to fire into the far corner after six minutes.

Laporte was then sent-off for pulling down Zaha as the last man in first-half stoppage time.

City hit back well in the second half, but had what appeared to be a Gabriel Jesus equaliser ruled out for a marginal offside against Phil Foden in the build-up.

The 10-men were then caught out two minutes from time when Connor Gallagher smashed high past Ederson.

After the game, Laporte took to social media to apologise to City fans for his role in the defeat, and praise his teammates for their second half response.

He wrote: “Really disappointed with the outcome today. Hard to get my first red wearing this shirt, credit to all the guys for fighting on the pitch until the end.

“Sorry for the loss, still we have a lot to take. Lose together, win together. Thanks for the unconditional support.”

These Laporte’s apology on the defeat against Crystal Palace has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.
