Borussia Monchengladbach youngster Luca Netz has revealed he turned down an offer from Manchester City and would do so again if they returned for him.
The 18-year-old was still under contract with Hertha BSC at the time. After eleven years with the old lady, he moved to Gladbach last summer for a four million euro transfer fee and signed a contract dated until 2026.
There he is developing well and and is one of a long list of German talent currently making their way into the Bundesliga, having made his debut in the division in January of this year aged just 17 years and seven months.
He made 15 appearances in all competitions for Hertha Berlin last season before a £3.6m move to Borussia Monchengladbach in August.
He’s only managed four appearances for them so far this season but has been in the starting eleven in three of those games.
The 18-year-old is clearly highly rated by the German club, who will be hoping he can develop into another talent in the coming years.
And it seems his ability has not gone unnoticed either, with BILD reporting Manchester City advances once left the young defender indifferent.
The left-back said he refused a “nonsense” transfer to the English champions Manchester City three years ago.
“I think it’s nonsense to switch to Manchester City at such a young age,” he told the newspaper.
“Even if I were to get another offer now, I would turn it down. I have a clear plan, and it’s simply too early for the Premier League.
“It’s important for me to play for Borussia, to gain experience and to develop steadily. Then we will see what happens in a few years.”
These Luca Netz’s comment has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.

Understandable. Same reason Haaland and Bellingham chose Dortmund

Who do you think you are rejecting the kings of England

Our past academy to first team transition records recently aren't the best, he did what's best for himself. The club should appreciate this. Doesn't mean he'll not dream to play for City four years later.

It's only nonsense if you don't back yourself to be good enough

Fair play to him. Though he might actually get a game for us now, you can’t argue against these young lads developing in Bundesliga at the moment over joining city etc
