Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has had a third bail application rejected today ahead of his trial for rape and sexual assault due to take place in three months’ time.
The French international has been in custody for seven weeks since his arrest in late August.
He was charged with three counts of rape relating to an alleged incident in October 2020 and with the sexual assault of a woman in early January this year.
He is also charged with raping a woman in August and trial date has been set for January 24, 2022. Mendy had made two previous bail applications, which had been refused.
As per Chris Slater of the Manchester Evening News, Benjamin Mendy has been refused bail again by a judge at a bail application hearing at Chester Crown Court on Monday morning.
Mendy was suspended by Manchester City after being charged by police, pending an investigation.
The defender played in Man City’s first two games this season against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur but was on the bench for their third game against Norwich City.
