Fans of Manchester City have been reacting on social media to comments made by Bernardo Silva, in which the Portuguese discusses his desire to return to boyhood club Benfica before his career is over.
Silva has been a superb player for City since joining from Monaco in 2017 but his future is in doubt now after City signed Jack Grealish for £100million. They are now stacked with attacking options and Bernardo’s game time is expected to be limited this season if he stays at the club.
The Portuguese is prepared to leave the Etihad and have been been linked with a move to Barcelona, Real madrid, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan this summer. City boss Pep Guardiola even admitted in a recent press-conference that Silva wants to leave the club before the transfer window shuts on August 31.
Despite the interest from Spain and Italy , Bernardo Silva has hinted that he would not turn down a move back to his boyhood club in Portugal – Benfica.
“I’ve said many times, I have an emptiness having left Benfica a little early and therefore I think I’ll come back, I believe. I believe that if they want me there, I’ll come back,” Silva told Eleven Portugal in an exclusive interview as quoted by City Xtra.
In reaction to Bernardo Silva’s comments, some City fans took to social media to express their thoughts and opinions.

Surely no proper fan would deny any player to want to return home to finish their career at a boyhood club. He’s not at that stage yet but anything over 30 years old you’ve made your money ,win your trophies ,go play for the team you love.
