Fabrizio Romano has claimed Jack Grealish will put pen to paper on a new contract with Dean Smith’s Aston Villa if Manchester City do not sign him this week.
The Cityzens are determined to sign Grealish from Aston Villa this summer and the latest reports suggest a deal could be concluded in a matter of days.
The 25-year-old’s future has been one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window, alongside that of his England teammate Harry Kane.
It was reported last week that Villa had received a Premier League record £100m bid for Grealish as the league champions look to test Villa’s resolve.
Villa are yet to formally respond to City’s offer, but it is understood they are not willing to let Grealish leave for the Premier League champions.
According to well-respected journalist Romano via Sky Sports News today, if City do not sign Grealish this week, then the England international is ready to sign a new contract with Villa.
“The situation on this one is really particular because, to be honest, I am told that this week it has to be decided’, Romano said.
“If Manchester City are not signing Jack Grealish this week, he is prepared to sign a new deal with Aston Villa, so timing will be very important.”
Grealish reported to training with Villa on Sunday after a holiday with friends following Euro 2020.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

He wants to join obviously but if the deal isn’t completed this week he feels it’ll be too late for a move because the PL starts in 2 weeks

So Fabrizio is saying Grealish might join City or he might stay at Villa? Cool, I hope he’s getting paid the big bucks for that level of insight.

What happened to the medical that was supposed to be scheduled for today?

I actually hope this deal falls off. Any reasonable City fan should know Kane is priority

If it’s between Grealish and Kane, obviously sign Kane. If not get that deal done ASAP

So if we don’t get grealish, it gives us more money to spend on Kane if needed. And if we get grealish we get an amazing player
