Liam Delap‘s dad Rory has played down any speculation about what the future could hold for his son at the Etihad.
The Manchester City striker has been linked with a loan move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The teenage striker was instrumental in City winning the U-23 league last season, scoring 24 goals and assisted 5 in a sensational year for the youngster.
Delap, who is one of City’s most exciting youth prospects, has been promised a place in Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad next season after scoring a record 24 goals in Premier League 2 – and is a genuinely exciting prospect.
However, there has been plenty of speculation that the 18-year-old strike could go out on loan this season in order to gain some vital experience, with Stoke one of a long list of Championship clubs interested in securing the talents of the highly-rated striker this month.
Liam’s father is now a coach at Stoke and when asked by Stoke Sentinel about the speculation linking his son to the Potters, he kept his cards close to his chest.
“I stay out of that – he is his own kid and he is doing quite well at the moment,” Delap senior said.
“Whatever happens with his career is not up to me.”
These Rory’s comment has prompt some Sky Blues to react on social media.
