Fernandinho has been included in the Premier League’s list of players set to be released this summer, with Manchester City yet to provide an update on the Brazilian’s future – which has got many Sky Blues talking.
The Brazilian has enjoyed an outstanding eight-year stay at the Etihad Stadium after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, and played an important role in the winning of this season’s title.
He enjoyed yet another excellent campaign and helped guide the Cityzens to a fifth Premier League title and their first Champions League final, where his exclusion from the starting XI was seen as a major reason for their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.
While reports emerged earlier last month claiming that Fernandinho was set to sign a contract extension at the Etihad, there remains to be an official announcement from City regarding his future and supporters are hoping this latest message isn’t a goodbye.
According to Sky Sports today, Fernandinho has been included on the Premier League list of players set to be released this summer.
Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia are also listed alongside with the Brazilian, the pair have since joined Barcelona on a free transfer.
The premier league champions will still have time to offer Fernandinho a new contract, the report adds.
In reaction to the news shared on Twitter by City Chief, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
please everyone, use common sense, stop overreacting, he is technically out of contract because we haven’t finished negotiation yet.

Guys this doesn’t mean he’s leaving, it’s that as of now he’s not been offered a new deal (officially)

the 36-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of June; the list is not definitive with players still potentially signing new deals with clubs before the expiration of their existing ones.. It was a clickbait from skysports

This might be such a shock but maybe it’s because he hasn’t signed a new deal yet 😱
