Manchester City extended their Premier League winning run to eight straight matches and saw a number of their main rivals falter over the weekend.

The Cityzens are clear at the top of the Premier League after Gabriel Jesus sealed a 1-0 win against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Manchester United’s title challenge suffered a second setback in four days as they failed to breakdown Arsenal in a 0-0 draw at the Emirates on Saturday after threwing away top spot with a shock 2-1 defeat to bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United in midweek.

The Red Devils are now three points adrift of league leaders Manchester City having played a game more than their local rivals while the champions are four points clear of the top spot afternoon an impressive 3-1 victory at West Ham.

After a poor run, Liverpool have won their last two games and will host City on Sunday in more confident mood, assuming they beat Brighton at Anfield on Wednesday first.

Graeme Souness believe Liverpool at their best is Manchester City’s only biggest title rival this season.

Souness sounds bitter, so city will miss Aguero at some point, but Liverpool can “get back on there saddle” but nothing said that Liverpool could easily dip again like they have done in these last few weeks.
