Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims the club have made Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland their transfer priority for the summer.
Pep Guardiola’s side have surprisingly struggled to find their rhythm in the final third, with the usually free-scoring attack being a problem. Injury and illness have restricted the clubs top scorer Sergio Aguero to just five Premier League appearances this term, only two of which have come as starts.
Their recent resurgence in form is largely down to the strength of their defence, keeping more clean sheets and conceding fewer goals than the rest of the teams in the league.
To ensure that chances are converted into goals next season, the Citizens are expected to be in the market for a new striker at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
According to 90min, Securing a new ‘number nine’ is Man City’s firm priority and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland remains their main target as the club look to find a long-term replacement for all-time leading scorer Sergio Aguero.
Manchester City officials according to the report have already been in touch with the striker’s family, including Alfe-Inge Haaland, Erling’s father and a former City player.
They believe they are at the front of the queue for the Norway international, who has also been linked with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
The report further claims that City’s pursuit of a new striker does not depend on the outcome of their attempt to land Messi, who could be on his way out of Barcelona at the end of the season.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, many City fans who have made no secret of their desire to see the youngster join the Blues have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
