Manchester City fans have praises midfielder Ilkay Gundogan following his impressive display against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday Night.
Two goals from John Stones and strikes from Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling sealed the victory which moved City to within two points of leaders United with a game in hand.
If it weren’t for John Stones’ incredible revitalization, all of the talk would be surrounding Gündoğan’s performances this season. From a player who constantly passed sideways and often hid in big matches, almost if he didn’t want to receive the ball, he is now driving forward with the ball, making incisive passes, arriving late into the box for crosses, and scoring wonder goals from outside the box.
The €40m-rated Germany international has proven his worth time and again this year, and have secured his role as a regular for Pep Guardiola’s side becoming a key figure in Man City’s attack.
The 30-year-old has now bagged four goals in 12 Premier League games this season, scoring against West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Many City fans after the match took to Twitter to hail Gundogan’s ‘unbelievable’ and ‘world class’ performance against Crystal Palace, with some comparing him with Liverpool star Thiago.
Here’s how some of the Man City faithful fans reacted to his performance:
I’m so happy Gundogan is back to his best, the guy is world class and has had so much unwarranted stick

Feels good watching a silky baller like Gundogan after torturing myself with that Bruno disasterclass earlier. The beautiful game is fun again

Although Gundogan is better than Pogba and Thiago this season, no one talks about him.

Always quick to criticise Gundogan the last couple of seasons but the last couple of months he’s been a whole other beast #MCFC
