Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims Manchester City are plotting to make a fresh move for Barcelona frontman Lionel Messi in the January transfer window.
Many fans will remember the crazy two-week period towards the end of August as City were reportedly in talks to sign Messi with the Argentine star pushing for a move away from Barcelona.
However, the six-times world player of the year eventually decided to stay in Spain for the coming season, the last on his current deal, as he did not want to face a legal battle with the club he joined as a teenager and with whom he has amassed more than 30 major trophies.
The Premier League giants are still favourites to sign wantaway superstar in sensational deal and reunite him with Pep Guardiola.
According to The Sun, City are expected to make a move to sign Lionel Messi in January. City officials believe signing Messi is a key way to convince Pep Guardiola to re-sign, with contract talks currently stalling.
The report claims that Barca are aware that they are likely to lose their greatest ever player on a free transfer in the summer and may opt to accept an offer as low as £50 million (€56m/$66m).
